Our in-person training at Stag Air Park blends EAB/ELSA focused inspection experience, FAA requirements with well-established instruction methods/techniques.

Course Syllabus & Curriculum

The comprehensive (FAA Approved In-Person curriculum) 16-hour curriculum is designed for experimental amateur built and experimental light-sport aircraft owners that would like to perform their own conditional inspection. This in-person training at Stag Air Park (7NC1) balances technical theory with hands-on practice, ensuring you gain the knowledge and confidence required to perform the conditional inspection. 

Failure Detection, AN Hardware, Corrosion & Weight and Balance

A review of methods to detect failures, AN aircraft hardware, corrosion and corrosion control, and the importance of weight and balance

FAA Regulations

Provides for an understanding of the conditional inspection legal framework, certification requirements, and documentation standards for Experimental Light Sport (ELSA) and Experimental Amateur Built (EAB) aircraft owners.

Airframe Systems

In-depth inspection techniques for airframe structures, control systems, and landing gear, focusing on the integrity of flight components.

Engine Systems

Practical inspections (overview / techniques) for typical LSA engines- including cooling, fuel, gearbox and electrical systems.

Propellers & Appliances

Inspection techniques for propellers, and appliances (Avionics, brakes, etc.) and methods available for nontraditional 14 CFR Part 43 Systems

Inspection (Practical)

Using the techniques described in the course the attendee will use a checklist to conduct an inspection of a light sport experimental aircraft (aircraft examples used in course - Legend Cub, Starduster Too Biplane, Just Highlander or C162/C150)

The lead course instructors are FAA Certified A&Ps and an FAA Certified Light Sport Repairman with a Maintenance certification (LSRM-A).

The lead instructors bring more than 100 years of combined experience in military flight operations and civil aviation to the course.  They bring a legacy of precision & integrity to the course, and they are specialists in the technical nuances of experimental light sport aircraft inspection techniques.

The instructors teaching philosophy focuses on practical outcomes, ensuring every student leaves with the confidence and background needed to maintain their own aircraft to the highest safety standards in the industry.

SUBJECT MATTER EXPERTS (SME) - The lead instructors are supported by subject matter experts in aircraft systems, engines, airframes, appliances. The SMEs provide additional resources to ensure the essential aspects of the curriculum are fully vetted.
